Lord of The Rings - Part 1, The Ring of Life
Luke 12:22-29
Exchange of Rings from a Wedding Ceremony:
”The ring is a symbol of the promise of your love you have for each other. Its unending circle represents the eternal quality of your love and the promise you make to one another. Now you may seal your promise to each other by giving and receiving the rings.”
The “Ring Of Life” is comprised of 3 parts: CPR
1. Cry Out To God for Comfort
“All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is…the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
2 Cor 1:3-4 (NLT)
“May our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father, who loved us and in his special favor gave us everlasting comfort and good hope, comfort your hearts and give you strength in every good thing you do and say.” 2 Thess 2:16-17 (NLT)
2. Open the Gift of Peace
"I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 (NLT)
a. Listen to the Lord
“But all who listen to me will live in peace and safety, unafraid of harm."
Prov 1:33 (NLT)
b. Focus on the Lord
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
Isa 26:3 (NLT)
c. Pray about everything
“Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6-7 (NLT)
3. Live in His Rest
”Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light." Matt 11:28-12:1 (NLT)
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Ps 91:1 (NLT)
Psalm 23:1-6 (Msg)
A David psalm
God, my shepherd!
I don't need a thing.
You have bedded me down in lush meadows,
you find me quiet pools to drink from.
True to your word,
you let me catch my breath
and send me in the right direction.
Even when the way goes through
Death Valley,
I'm not afraid
when you walk at my side.
Your trusty shepherd's crook
makes me feel secure.
You serve me a six-course dinner
right in front of my enemies.
You revive my drooping head;
my cup brims with blessing.
Your beauty and love chase after me
every day of my life.
I'm back home in the house of God
for the rest of my life.
